Beginning the Day with Gratitude

Image
Morning Reflection This morning, I woke up at 4:00 a.m. and began my daily routine as usual. I practiced one hour of Vipassana Meditation, followed by five minutes of Metta Bhavana, sharing loving-kindness with all beings. Every morning has become an opportunity to observe my mind and to understand it a little better than the day before. Over the past few days, I noticed an interesting pattern. Soon after waking up, before my meditation even began, negative memories from the past often appeared in my mind. They would quietly visit me and sometimes influence the beginning of my day. Although I could observe them, I realized that if I simply allowed them to continue, they would take away the peace I wished to cultivate each morning. Today, before those thoughts had the chance to grow, I decided to do something different. As soon as I woke up, I gently reminded myself of the many things I am grateful for. Gratitude is usually something I practice throughout the day, but this morning I dec...

Art of Inner Peace Where Wisdom Grows Through Reflection, Mindfulness, and Compassionate Living Welcome to Art of Inner Peace—a quiet space created for reflection, mindful living, meditation, Dhamma, and the deeper questions that shape our human experience. Life moves quickly. Every day brings responsibilities, relationships, decisions, expectations, challenges, disappointments, and unexpected changes. In the middle of all this movement, it is easy to become so focused on the world around us that we forget to listen to the world within us. Art of Inner Peace is an invitation to pause. It is a place to step away from constant noise and spend a few moments looking inward. It is a place to ask not only, “What is happening in my life?” but also, “What is happening within me?” Understanding this inner world can help us see our experiences with greater clarity. When we become aware of our thoughts, emotions, words, actions, habits, relationships, and reactions, we begin to understand how the...

Pause and Breathe

Morning Reflection This morning’s reflection continues my journey of understanding the importance of positive habits. Although each day seems very similar, I am beginning to realize that every ordinary morning quietly teaches me something new. As usual, I started my day with one hour of Vipassana Meditation, followed by five minutes of Metta Bhavana, sharing loving-kindness with all beings. After meditation, I went swimming in the Mekong River, enjoying the peaceful morning atmosphere before returning home for breakfast, washing the dishes, and then leaving for the café to begin my daily work. From the outside, my routine looked almost identical to every other morning. However, what I observed inside my mind was different. While working at the café, I spent some time talking with one of my friends. During our conversation, we discovered that we had different opinions about a particular subject. The discussion remained polite and respectful, yet I noticed that a small seed of frustratio...

The Quiet Practice of Mindful Observation

Image
Morning Reflection As usual, I began my morning by waking early and practicing one hour of meditation, followed by five minutes of Metta Bhavana (Loving-Kindness Meditation) then swimming in the peaceful Mekong River. Those quiet moments filled my heart with gratitude and reminded me that every new day offers another opportunity to cultivate mindfulness and inner peace. This morning brought an unexpected but meaningful lesson. During breakfast at the café, I met one of my close friends. We greeted each other warmly and enjoyed our coffee together. As our conversation continued, we reviewed some events from yesterday and began discussing several people we both know, including their jobs, Dhamma practice, and the situations they are currently facing. As I listened carefully, I realized how easily ordinary conversations can shift into discussing other people’s lives. Even though our intention was not to criticize anyone, I became aware that speaking too much about others can gradually tak...

Allow the Past to Leave

Morning Reflection This morning, I began my daily routine a little earlier than usual. I started with one hour of Vipassana Meditation, followed by five minutes of Metta Bhavana, sharing loving-kindness with all beings. After meditation, I went swimming in the Mekong River, enjoying the quiet morning before returning home for breakfast, washing the dishes, and preparing to leave for the café. Although my routine was peaceful, something unexpected happened during my morning swim. While swimming in the Mekong River, several memories from my past suddenly appeared in my mind. They were not pleasant memories. They were old experiences that once caused me resentment and disappointment. I had not thought about them for a long time, yet today they returned as if they had been quietly waiting beneath the surface. I noticed that these thoughts continued to influence me even after I left the river. They followed me home, stayed with me during breakfast, and remained present as I travelled to the...

The Missing Element: A Plan

Image
Morning Reflection This morning, I woke up a little later than my usual 4:00 a.m. routine. Before getting out of bed, I began the day with gratitude, as I have practiced over the past few mornings. I then continued with one hour of Vipassana Meditation, followed by five minutes of Metta Bhavana. Because I had started later than usual, I decided to skip my morning swim in the Mekong River. Instead, I prepared breakfast, washed the dishes, and left for the café a little earlier. As I observed my mind throughout the morning, I noticed something encouraging. Unlike previous mornings when old memories or negative thoughts sometimes appeared soon after waking, today my mind remained calm and peaceful. This strengthened my confidence that beginning the day with gratitude is a powerful practice. Before the world has the opportunity to influence our thoughts, we can choose to prepare our own mind with appreciation and positivity. When I arrived at the café, my friend was already sitting at our ...
